On Monday the 35th of November, 2019, for Monday mashup I choose to make  Christmas Clay Ornaments. 

We had to design a Christmas  ornament. I choose a cross, angle and a snowman.
On that day, I only got to build the cross because I didn't know what to make first.

On Monday the 2nd of December, 2019, I was making a cross and 2 tiny presents for my little sister Zaria. 

Its only her 2nd Christmas, so I decided to make her first Christmas ornament and since I'm a christian, I wanted to make her a cross.

                                                               Steps

1. Blow up balloon
2. Tape both ends of the balloon
3. Poke the skewer through both pieces of tape right through the balloon.

This happened because the tape stopped the balloon rubber from ripping so it kept the air inside.

This was a really fun experiment.

What Would You Do?

Facts About Bugs On Water

As it turns out, the bug's feet are covered with waxy hairs that are “hydrophobic“–which means they chemically resist contact with water. This combination of strong surface tension and water-resistant feet is what lets our bug stand on the
 water, without even getting wet! This reason is because these water-walking insects are so light, their long, thin legs distribute their weight evenly and prevent them from breaking the surface tension of the water. The surface of any body of water behaves as though it is covered with an invisible skin, which allows small, light-weight insects to walk across it. This skin effect is caused by surface tension. Like molecules are attracted to each other. They like to “stick together” and this attractive force is known as "cohesion".

Science Experience

Which solution makes the best bubbles?

Equipment needed:

• Pipe cleaners (3)
• Buckets (3)                                              
• Liquid dish washing soap
• Water
• Dish washing liquid  or glucose syrup
• Light corn syrup
• Masking tape 

What to do:

1. Put water and dish washing liquid into a bucket. Mix carefully and well.
2. Use your pipe cleaner to make a circle shape like this photo.   

3. Dip your pipe cleaner into the bucket. Take it out and blow. 

Do this with 2 more times once adding corn syrup to the mixture and the next bucket has dish washing liquid, water and glucose syrup.

Now, when you have made bubbles with all of the solution , which solution makes the best bubbles?    

I discovered that solution 2 gave the longest lasting bubbles out of all three solutions. This solution had corn syrup, Dish washing liquid and water.

Science Project

I hope you can enjoy this process of making a bug to try and make it float
on water.

                                   PROCESS

1. You get three pieces of thin wire and cut all three pieces of 

wire about 8-10 centimeters long.

2. now fill up a bowl of cold water add food coloring if you wish.

3.Now twist the body all the wire pieces and make sure that your
legs are in a U shape and all of them are the same height.

4.Now try and test your bug.

BY THE WAY NONE OF OURS WORKED OUT.

For Inquiry, I picked to join the mural art group. But first we made a design by our self's, then we got into groups. I'm with Maia, Kaylee C, Azariah, Ruby, Abby and Caily W. Me and Maia connected our designs and made a pacific turtle on the New Brighton beach. We are doing this because we want to show our community what we relate to. After were're finished, someone is going to pick someones mural to put on our school shed.

Chariots Of Fire

This term, Me and my buddy “ Kaylee” made a chariot for our Sphero's. We used: Plastic, cardboard, bottle lids and straws. We had replaced the cardboard with plastic because there wasn't enough cardboard.

We had to think about it a lot because we had to think about how we’re put the flat cardboard onto the wheels.

After everyone finished their chariots of fire, we had to race it so we can see what went wrong. My chariot didn’t work for the race because mine was too tight and it completely wasn’t going to work any ways.

At the end we got to play with the Sphero.

The person that won is Jed probably because he put extra work into his than me and also Zac had resilience when he did his because when his didn’t work when he tested it, it didn’t work but 2 weeks later, he came back and didn’t give up.  

Orana Park Trip

On Wednesday the 26th of June 2019,Tawhirimatea got to go to Orana Park.

But first we had to get there. So we hopped on the bus, and quietly st down. When we were nearly there all the people on the bus were excited for the big bump. As we were at the top of the big bump we went driving down, when we drove down everyone had a weird butterfly that was going around in circles in their tummy.

Finally I said I'm my mind as we were driving in through the entrance.

When we got there everyone was bursting out of the bus trying to get to the animals first but then the lady had to hell us about the rules.

When she explained all the rules groups 3, 4 & 5 had to walk out of the entrance while the rest had to stay there.  I was in group 5.

The first thing group 5 saw was Meercats, did you know there is an alpha female that leads the group.

We had Morning tea after. I had the best lunch ever, probably because I was going to Orana park for the whole day.

After that, we went to see the Porcupines, but there was none there. It really smelt like dog food at Orana park.

Then, me and Sophie Wang  saw other amazing creatures.

At the end we went home and chilled out.

Family Adventure Time

Family Adventure Time

On a cold night at the park, our Dad was playing league. When the game ended, our

Dad had set up a surprise for us. While we waited, we felt like we were about to burst!

First we had  to go home to eat my dad's best curry in the world (except for my Nana's

Curry, she's like really good at it )after that we got ready to go to the surprise.

We were driving until our mum and dad said that we could have a McDonald's ice

cream if we be good at the surprise.

Then we arrived.  before we went inside to give our tickets to the man we got to play

with on this man's glow stick. It made a lot of cool noises like policeman noises and

stop noises and it also turn green and red.

Later after that, we ran to the line and gave our tickets to the man.Straight away when
we're in the line I knew we're going to watch other people to play basketball.

“Wow” I said in my mind quietly as I walked into the stadium. When we walked into
the stadium we had to sit down  into our seats. Kindly someone else let us sit in their
seats at the top so we didn't have to carry the pram.

We watched and watched them play. We said that we should gess who would win. I
choose the Saints and my rest of my family choose the Rams. At half-time they brand
children to dance and keep the crowd busy, and they also said that if you if we hear one
of yous in the crowd we'll the loudest you will get your own personal big free pizza. I
cheered as hard as I could but it was no use I was cheering like a lion and it just took
my breath away. At the end the Saints won.

After that we went home and slept.

That bee´s can flap their wings 100 times per second and Monkeys use their tails to swing branch to branch. Without bees and butterflies we wouldn't be alive by now because our plants need nectar and we need trees.

Think about the  language features. Which ones did the author include? Why? How do they help you
better understand the text?  Some  predators (like lions)  work together to kill their prey, While others hunt alone. Camouflage is a great defense against predators.
